I live in Zona Colonial and I love sharing this neighborhood with travelers. My favorite thing is walking people through the back streets where the real life happens — the domino games on the sidewalk, the colmados with the music blasting, the old ladies selling empanadas on the corner. That is the real Santo Domingo.

Looking for good conversations and real Dominican food? Come to Santo Domingo. I know the best local spots where you can eat mangu with the three hits for breakfast, fresh fish at the Malecon for lunch, and dance bachata at night. This city has so much soul.

Hola! If you are visiting Santo Domingo, the Zona Colonial is a must. Walk through Calle Las Damas at sunset, grab a cold Presidente at a colmado, and just enjoy the vibe. The history here is incredible — oldest cathedral in the Americas. I can show you hidden spots most tourists walk right past.

Santo Domingo food guide from a local: breakfast at Adrian Tropical (mangu con los tres golpes), lunch at Buen Provecho in the Colonial Zone, dinner at SBG for something upscale. Street food tip: the chimichurri stands on the Malecon at night are incredible and cost less than 200 pesos.
