Good habits
Chat first, meet in public, tell someone your plans, and trust your instincts.
Always report
Requests for money, pressure to meet privately, or anything that breaks our Community Guidelines.
01
Before You Meet
A little homework goes a long way before meeting someone in person:
- Check their profile first: Read their bio, reviews, and photos before reaching out. A detailed, established profile is a good sign.
- Message before meeting: Use Roavi's in-app messaging to chat first and get a feel for who they are.
02
Meeting In Person
- Meet in public places: Choose a busy, well-lit location for your first meetup — a café, park, or popular area.
- Tell someone your plans: Share where you're going and who you're meeting with a friend or family member.
- Trust your instincts: If something feels off, leave. There's no obligation to stay.
Keep your own transportation plans and a charged phone handy for the first few meetups until you're comfortable.
03
Protecting Your Money & Information
Never send money or valuables to strangers
Roavi does not process payments between users, and legitimate Local Friends won't ask you to wire money, buy gift cards, or share financial details before meeting.
- Don't share your home address, financial information, or ID numbers in chat.
- Be cautious of anyone rushing to move the conversation off the Platform.
- Requests for upfront payment before a first meeting are a red flag — report them.
04
Red Flags To Watch For
- Pressuring you to meet somewhere private or isolated right away.
- Asking for money, gift cards, or financial information before you've met.
- A profile with few details, no reviews, or photos that look inconsistent.
- Refusing to video call or verify identity when asked.
- Language that ignores your boundaries after you've set them.
05
Reporting & Getting Help
If someone makes you uncomfortable or breaks our Community Guidelines, use the report option on their profile, Activity, or message thread — our team reviews every report.
In an emergency
Contact local emergency services immediately. Roavi's support team can help after the fact, but is not a substitute for emergency response.
You can also flag anything to our team directly at hello@roavi.com.
This Safety Center offers general guidance and does not replace your own judgment or local emergency services.
