It's a reasonable question, and it deserves a real answer instead of a generic "trust the process" one.

You Choose Who You Talk To

Every conversation starts in Roavi's chat, not in person. A traveler messages you, you read their profile and what they're asking for, and you decide whether to respond at all. Nobody is matched or booked automatically — you're in the conversation because you chose to be.

You Can Decline Anyone, No Explanation Needed

If a request feels off — vague, pushy, or just not something you want to do — you can decline it and move on. There's no penalty for saying no, no obligation to justify it, and no pressure to accept something you're not comfortable with just because someone asked first.

Meet in Public the First Time

For a first meetup with anyone new, pick a public spot — a BTS or MRT station, a café, a hotel lobby — rather than somewhere isolated, and tell a friend or family member roughly where you're going and when you expect to be done. This is exactly the same precaution you'd take meeting anyone new for the first time; it's not specific to Roavi, and the overwhelming majority of meetups are completely uneventful.

Payment Stays Between You and the Traveler

Roavi doesn't process bookings or payments and doesn't take a commission — you and the traveler settle that directly, the same as you would with any other arrangement. Agree on the amount and how you'll be paid (cash, bank transfer, whichever app you both use) before you meet, not during, so there's nothing to negotiate awkwardly once you're already together.

You Can Block or Report at Any Time

If a conversation or a meetup makes you uncomfortable, you're never required to keep going. You can stop responding, block the traveler, or report the conversation at any point — before meeting, during a chat, or after.

Trust the Same Instincts You'd Use Anywhere Else

None of this is unique to being a Local Friend — it's the same judgment you'd apply meeting anyone new. The difference is you're in control of the entire process from the first message onward: who you talk to, what you agree to, and whether you show up at all.
