Is Punta Cana safe for tourists in 2026?
Yes — Punta Cana is one of the safest areas in the Dominican Republic and very safe for tourists. The whole region is built around resort tourism, with a dedicated tourist police (CESTUR/POLITUR) patrolling the hotel zones and beaches. Violent crime against tourists is rare; the things you'll actually deal with are persistent beach vendors, overpriced taxis, and excursion or timeshare sales pressure — annoyances, not dangers. Use normal big-resort common sense and you'll be fine.
