Dry Season (November–April): The Classic Choice

This is the best weather window. Skies are clear, humidity is low, and the islands look exactly like the brochures. November and early December are the sweet spot — great weather before the December–February peak when prices and crowds are highest.

If you want guaranteed beach weather and don't mind sharing the sand, this is your season.

Hot Season (March–May): Hot and Festive

Temperatures climb through March and April, peaking around Songkran (April 13–15), the legendary water-fight new year. It's hot, but the festival energy is unmatched. By late April the heat is intense, especially inland.

Green Season (May–October): Cheap and Lush

The monsoon scares off most tourists, which is exactly why some travelers love it. Rain usually falls in short afternoon downpours, not all day. In return you get half-price hotels, empty beaches, dramatic green landscapes, and the most relaxed version of Thailand.

September and October are the wettest months — beautiful, but pack a rain jacket and stay flexible.

A Note on the Two Coasts

Thailand's coasts have opposite weather. The Andaman side (Phuket, Krabi, Phi Phi) is best November–April. The Gulf side (Koh Samui, Koh Phangan) stays drier into the green season but gets its heaviest rain in October–November. Pick your islands to match your dates.
