Punta Cana is the easy honeymoon. Here's how to make it the good one too.
Which area#
| Area | For |
|---|---|
| Cap Cana | Calm bays, quiet, luxury, nothing to do but each other |
| Uvero Alto | A wilder beach, seclusion, 45 minutes from anything |
| Bávaro | Restaurants and El Cortecito on foot, a bit of life |
Bávaro vs Punta Cana explains the names; Cap Cana guide; where to stay.
Adults-only or not#
Worth it when the family resorts are full: July, August, Christmas, spring break, Semana Santa. In the quiet months, a family resort's adults-only wing does the same for less. The room category and the beach matter more than the "honeymoon package", which is usually a bottle, petals and a late checkout.
The month#
January to March is the dream. Late November to mid-December is the value version. Skip September and October unless you're insured and relaxed. May to July only at a resort that rakes its beach daily. Best time to visit.
Excursions for two#
- Saona on a weekday with a smaller boat (guide).
- A private or small-group catamaran afternoon (which kind).
- Scape Park and Hoyo Azul for a swim in a cenote (guide).
- A couples massage on the beach, booked at a spa rather than from the sand.
- Skip: the dolphin swims, the party boats, and anything with a 7am hotel pickup on your first morning. Punta Cana for couples has more.

The one evening#
Every honeymoon in Punta Cana is the same resort week until one night isn't. Seafood on the sand in El Cortecito, a colmado in Verón with bachata, a plate of food cooked by someone's mother. Post your dates on Roavi Community and a Local Friend takes you both. It's the night you'll tell people about.
